project overview
Brief:" Design an experience that addresses the democratic process."
Design method: LITERATURE REVIEW, PROTOTYPING
Group partners: Evelyn, Nancy, Chun, Jae, Sarah
project details & aim:
The discussion at the beginning was very in-depth. We discussed the impact of educational background on voting, the differences between countries in the voting system, the impact of social media on public decision-making, and so on. In the end, we identified several directions that we wanted to explore in-depth.
brainstorming:
02
prototype:
Prototype 1: so as to pull in them, we planned a container contains a great deal of casting ballot balls and a few inflatables. (We need them to understand that they can have any kind of effect). Empowering mottos are on each ball. so more individuals to utilize their entitlement to cast a ballot (get the show on the road), there will be fewer balls inside the case. Consequently, inflatables will be discharged. The thought was initially from the push coin machine. To let everyone participate in the democratic framework, and cause it to be an open establishment. Contrast and put things in, individuals would be increasingly drawn in with evacuating things out. We chose when the entirety of the froth balls have been expelled, the helium inflatable would fly.
Prototype 2: This model is about foot vote. Let individuals remove their hands from the customary feeling of casting a ballot and drive their entire bodies to take an interest in the democratic procedure. After the client presses the pedal with his foot, the extent of your democratic outcomes will be shown on the screen.
03
outcomes:
After the presentation in the first week, the students have developed a strong interest in Model 2, so we intend to add the foot vote part to the theme of your vote matter to make the entire voting process more interesting. In the beginning, we thought of many ways to show the effect of "many a little makes a mickle". Such as Cola Garmantos, water Riga ink and so on. Here is a video of our test (cola&mantos) .We failed three or four times at first, but later we found out that because the sample glass bottle we were looking for was too big, the chemical reaction could only take place in a cola bottle.
In the end, we decided to use the LUSH bath ball to achieve this effect. We purchased a new LUSH ball and cut it into small fragment sizes.
